Kemer
Between pine forests and the sea
A holiday hub where the Taurus pine forests meet the sea, famous for its marina and coves. Close to the Olympos and Yanartaş (Chimera) nature routes.
About the region
Kemer lies 40 km southwest of Antalya, where the pine forests of the Beydağları run straight down to the sea. That geography defines the area: small sheltered coves, very clear water and mountains always in the background. Beyond Kemer town, Göynük, Beldibi, Çamyuva and Tekirova each have their own character.
Kemer is also an excellent base for nature routes. Some of the finest stages of the Lycian Way pass through here; you can wade the cold water of Göynük Canyon, swim in the coves between the three ancient harbours of Phaselis, and in the evening watch the natural flames of Yanartaş (Chimaera) that have burned for millennia.
The marina and its restaurants form the social centre. Coves reached by boat, diving schools and the cable car to the summit of Mount Tahtalı (Olympos) make Kemer far more than a beach destination. Even in high summer the forest keeps the air noticeably cooler.
