Dimçayı

The valley of the ice-cold Dim River, coming down from the Taurus east of Alanya. Wooden platforms are built over the water so you can eat with your feet dangling in it — the most practical antidote to summer heat.

The Dim River is fed by Taurus snowmelt, so even in midsummer the water stays around 10–12°C. Along the stretch nearest Alanya, dozens of wooden platforms are built out over the river; the businesses on them serve breakfast, trout and gözleme. The water is so cold that most visitors settle for dangling their feet.

Along the valley there are natural pools used like swimming holes, rope swings and small waterfalls. Canoe and inflatable-boat trips run on the upper stretches. At the head of the valley, the Dim Dam reservoir is a viewpoint in its own right, with terraces looking over the water.

Dimçayı is about 15 km from central Alanya and reachable by dolmuş. With Dim Cave on the same road it makes a natural half-day route: the cave's steady cool first, then lunch by the river. Late in the afternoon the valley falls into shade and cools quickly — a light layer helps.
