Büyük Çakıl Plajı

A pebble beach 1.5 km from central Kaş, ringed by pine trees and rocks. The clarity and depth of the water make it one of the town's favourite spots for snorkelling.

Büyük Çakıl lies on the eastern side of the Kaş peninsula, about a 20-minute walk from the centre. As the name says, the floor is coarse pebble, which keeps the water noticeably clearer than the sandy beaches of the Antalya coast. It deepens a few metres out, ideal for confident swimmers but requiring care with small children.

The pines behind the beach give natural shade at midday. A few beach businesses along the shore provide loungers, showers and a café, and there are free sections too. With a snorkel you can see fish along the base of the rocks, which makes it a good introduction to the diving culture Kaş is known for.

Walking here from the centre along the coast road is enjoyable for the viewpoints on the way. In the late afternoon the sun drops behind the opposite slope, the beach falls into shade and cools, and the crowd thins. Küçük Çakıl beach is a smaller alternative closer to the centre.
