Finike
A quiet harbour scented with oranges
A harbour town famous for its oranges, with a marina and a long beach away from the crowds. Mountain-set ancient cities such as Arykanda lie on the Taurus slopes behind it.
About the region
Finike is a small coastal district between Kumluca and Demre, and the first thing its name brings to mind is probably oranges. Its ancient name was Phoinix; today it lives on farming and yachting rather than tourism. There is no high-rise hotel development along its long beach, which keeps the shore calm year-round.
Finike Marina sits in the middle of town. As one of the wintering spots for yachts cruising the Mediterranean, the area around it stays lively all year, and its cafés and fish restaurants make a pleasant evening walk. The beach runs for kilometres east of the marina and most of it is public.
What ties Finike into a travel route is its position: head north on the Elmalı road for Arykanda, west for Demre and Myra, east for Olympos and Adrasan. The town itself is a quiet base with a busy hinterland — good for staying a few days and touring the area on day trips.
